Taylor Swift will give the debut performance of her new single, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” on one of music’s biggest stages. The country-pop superstar will perform her record-breaking new track at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, MTV announced today (August 21).
Taylor joins previously announced VMA performers Alicia Keys, Pink, Green Day, and One Direction.
“We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” leads Taylor’s hotly-anticipated fourth album, Red, due in stores on October 22.
In other VMA news, Miley Cyrus, possessor of the edgy haircut that shocked the world, is among the newly announced list of presenters, which also includes Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller, and Team USA Olympians the Fierce Five, a.k.a. McKayla Maroney, Jordyn Wieber, Gabby Douglas, Kyla Ross, and Aly Raisman.
The 2012 MTV VMAs will air live from Los Angeles’ Staples Center on September 6 at 8pm EST.
